How to save a recipe from Instagram
Updated October 2026
Instagram is full of great recipes — in Reels, carousels and long captions. Saving them takes one tap, but finding them again when you're hungry is another story. Here's how to save Instagram recipes the right way.
Try the free tool: Instagram recipe to text →
Save it inside the app
- Tap the bookmark
Under the post or Reel, tap the bookmark icon. It's now in your Saved items.
- Choose a collection
Tap "Save to collection" on the pop-up (or long-press the bookmark) and add it to a collection like "Recipes" or "Baking".
- Find it later
Go to Profile → menu (☰) → Saved, and open your recipe collection.
Keep a copy outside the app
- Copy the link
Tap the share (paper plane) icon → Copy link, and paste it into your notes with the dish name.
- Write down the recipe
Recipes are usually in the caption or in the carousel slides — copy the caption text or screenshot the slides with the ingredients.
Why saved recipes still get lost
- Saved collections can't be searched, so finding "that lemon chicken" means scrolling through everything.
- Long recipes hide behind "more" in the caption, and Reels often show amounts for just a second.
- If the account deletes the post or goes private, it vanishes from your Saved items.
- Cooking along means keeping the app open and scrolling the caption with messy hands.

FAQ
- Can someone see that I saved their Instagram post?
- No. Saves are private. Creators can see how many saves a post has in their insights, but not who saved it.
- How do I save an Instagram Reel recipe?
- The same way as a post: tap the bookmark on the Reel, or tap ⋯ → Save, and pick a collection.
- What happens to saved posts if they're deleted?
- They disappear from your Saved collections. Keep a copy of the recipe outside Instagram if you want to be sure.
- Is there an app that turns an Instagram link into a recipe?
- That's what Mixova does: paste an Instagram link and get a clean recipe with ingredients and steps. It's coming soon to Android — leave your email below and we'll write on launch day.
